Rights to Tribe booklet

The Rights of Indians and Tribes is one of the most accessible introductory texts on the subject currently available. It uses uses short, clearly-worded essays on areas of Indian Law and its history, as well as sections written in a 'Questions-and-Answers' style applying the legal concepts to particular situations.

This recently updated edition emphasizes what legal battles have been launched against Indians and tribes over time, and also what struggles they face in protecting various aspects of traditional and contemporary life. Discussed topics include: legal powers of Indian tribes; civil and criminal jurisdiction on Indian reservations; Indian Civil Rights Act and more. This book is a must-have for activists and students of Indian Law, but would also be very handy for those interested in law in itself and American Indian history. Get book >>>
